Qma Kunimasa TSS Subframe
I'm Qma Kunimasa, who competes in the All Japan Dirt Trial in Japan.
It all started when I saw a video introducing the Dirty Racing Products 8sec WRX on YouTube. I thought the TSS FAB US chromoly subframe was so attractive. I'd reinforced the original Subaru subframe myself in the past and knew the effect was tremendous, and the fact that it was now made with 4130 chromoly tubes was like a dream! I had to buy it! So I bought it. Before installing it, I went for a gravel test run and reconfirmed the handling, thinking that this is what Subarus are like.
When I took it out of the box and started installing it, I was amazed at how precise it was. All the bolts fit perfectly. How can they make it so perfectly even though it's made by welding? Especially the centering and tightening torque of the taper installation were perfect. I had to think a little about installing the steering rack, but there were no problems. My car doesn't have an original fuel tank, so I was able to install it quickly without any banging.
Now for the test run! It's a completely different car. The stiffness of the front side frame has definitely increased, which has changed the response of the dampers. The damping force of the compression side could be increased by 200N at 0.6m/s, or even more. It's a comfortable ride. There's no more rattling or shaking, and the stiffness has definitely increased across the board. In terms of handling, it's like the steering response is two fists more! (No matter how much you turn the steering wheel, there's a response!) I also purchased and installed a front lower arm. The stiffness has increased and the traction has increased even more! I can't go back (lol)
The benefits of the rear subframe and trailing arm are extraordinary, and I'm constantly impressed by how much traction the Subaru has and how it can drive straight. The OEM is like a paper craft. Front traction, braking, handling, rear traction, stability, everything has improved. I also redid all the suspension settings. It's just a matter of personal preference, but I like to raise just the rear trailing arm pivot to make the anti-squat stronger.
This is an essential part if you drive a Subaru and do motorsports, whether off-road or on-road. You should buy this subframe before buying some unnecessary nice wheels. I've used it in dirt trials for three years without a single crack, and I can drift at 160km/h anytime. The body will be different from next year, but of course I'll use the TSSFab.us subframe. You should definitely buy it. Otherwise you'll lose 2 seconds every 2km.
