Powder Coat Disclaimer
Powder coating is available as an optional service on many TSSFAB products. Before ordering powder coat, please read the information below carefully.
We offer powder coating as a convenience to our customers, but powder coating is not performed in-house by TSSFAB. Parts requiring powder coat are sent to outside vendors for blasting, preparation, and coating.
Powder Coat Will Add Lead Time
Adding powder coat to your order can add approximately 2–6 weeks to the normal production time.
The exact turnaround depends on the workload and scheduling of our sandblasting and powder-coating vendors and is outside of TSSFAB's direct control. Powder-coated orders may occasionally take longer than estimated.
If you need your parts by a specific date or as soon as possible, we strongly recommend ordering them unfinished and having them coated locally after installation.
Powder Coat Can Be Damaged During Installation
Powder coat is durable, but it is not indestructible.
Installation, test fitting, adjustment, hardware, tools, and contact between parts can scratch, chip, or otherwise damage the coating. This is especially common during the first installation of a product when the installer is still determining fitment and positioning.
This is one of the primary reasons TSSFAB often recommends installing and test-fitting unfinished parts before having them powder coated.
Damage caused during installation or fitment is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered by TSSFAB.
Powder Coat Is Non-Refundable
The cost of powder coating is non-refundable if you choose to return a product.
If the underlying part qualifies for a return under our normal return policy, TSSFAB will refund the eligible cost of the part, but the powder-coating charge will not be refunded.
The exception is when the return or replacement is required because of an error made by TSSFAB.
Shipping Damage
We package powder-coated products as carefully as reasonably possible to protect the finish during shipping. However, once a package enters the carrier's network, it may be dropped, crushed, punctured, dragged, or otherwise handled in ways outside of our control.
Because of this, TSSFAB cannot guarantee that a powder-coated finish will arrive completely free of cosmetic damage.
TSSFAB does not accept responsibility for cosmetic powder-coat damage caused during transit unless the damage can reasonably be attributed to obvious neglect or inadequate packaging on our part.
Color and Finish Variation
Powder-coat colors, gloss levels, textures, and surface appearance may vary slightly between batches, manufacturers, materials, and coating runs.
Photos displayed online should be considered a general representation of the finish rather than a guarantee of an exact color or appearance.
If you are trying to match an existing powder-coated part, vehicle component, or previously coated TSSFAB product, an exact match cannot be guaranteed.
Masked Areas, Threads, and Contact Surfaces
Certain areas may need to remain uncoated for proper assembly or function. This can include threaded holes, studs, bearing surfaces, mating surfaces, electrical grounding points, and other areas where coating thickness could interfere with fitment.
Powder coat adds measurable thickness to a part, so holes may fit tighter after coating than they did when unfinished. In some cases, powder may also get into threaded holes or onto threaded features and require the threads to be cleaned up or chased with a tap before assembly.
TSSFAB does our best to identify and address these issues before parts are shipped, but some coating buildup may still remain and minor cleanup during installation may be required.
Small variations around masked areas are normal and are not considered defects.
Minor Cosmetic Imperfections
Powder coating is an industrial finishing process. Minor cosmetic imperfections such as small texture variations, light surface marks, edge buildup, small inclusions, or other imperfections may occasionally be present.
These do not affect the function of the product and are not considered grounds for replacement or refund unless the finish is substantially outside what would reasonably be expected from a professionally powder-coated part.
Our Recommendation
For customers who are concerned about lead time, installation damage, exact color matching, or fitment, we recommend ordering your parts unfinished.
This allows you to:
-
Test-fit and install the parts before coating.
-
Make any necessary modifications without damaging a finished surface.
-
Choose a local powder coater and inspect color samples in person.
-
Avoid the additional turnaround time associated with sending parts out for coating.
By selecting a powder-coat option when ordering from TSSFAB, you acknowledge and accept the additional lead time, possibility of installation or shipping damage, finish variations, and non-refundable powder-coating costs described above.
